don't want to jump to conclusions but you might have a power problem. try installing a cheap ups, like a tripp-lite 1500 that costs about 300 bucks and see if that helps. dirty power will cause all kinds of gremlins to arise.

does the merlin legend have an internal modem? the programming screen indicates it does, but when I dial *10 from the intercom, I don't get modem tone. I've reset the modem in the maint screen to no avail. there is a post that says you need a 012 (t/r) card for this to work. i'm in the process...
