Tdmneil you've had some bad luck ! In over 25 years in this game all manufacturers have DOA's but the Mitel kit has out performed most but same as MitelInMyBlood a few issues with numberals rubbing off some handsets 2 or 3 years ago but issue resolved quickly.

If the phones are reasonably new there shouldn't be any problem returning them especially as Mitel are aware of this issue. From memory I think the recalled sets were identified by the manufactured date on the box.
Yes the 5212 models had a "bad" batch last year and Mitel recalled the known affected orders and put the 5212 on stop ship whilst the problem was rectified.
You have a couple of options in the multiline set key assignment form, these being Multicall, DSS/BLF & Secreterial. Just add the employee's ext no to a spare key on the secretary's superset, go for multicall and set it to ring.
