i checked the hard drive after he gave it back to me and there were no PST files. nothing there... i'm sure he removed them. plus, i've since reformatted that laptop for another user anyways.
yeah, we weren't doing the granular restores at that time which is my issue. and you got it... he was archiving his e-mails into PST files. he took all the PST files with him when he left. so i think i'm out of luck.
We use Backup Exec 11d and Exchange 2000. I am trying to restore an individual mailbox from a backup of the entire mail store. The reason is that the user destroyed all of his PST files prior to leaving the company. Is there a way to do that or am I out of luck?
We use Exchange 2000 and have Symantec Backup Exec 11d. There is a former employee that destroyed all his Outlook PST files before leaving us and now I am trying to restore his mailbox. I've got a backup of the entire Exchange store on tape. I think I know the answer here but is there any way...

Well, I discovered that if I manually point the DNS on my laptop to our DNS servers my clock is then correct. So what does this mean? I do have our DNS pointing to them in the config for the 2801. But then again, the clocks on the DNS servers themselves are incorrect.
Andy--
I tried your suggestion but no luck (the command did complete successfully though). Yes, the clients all login to a domain. I must have something incorrect or missing in my 2801 config...?
Scott
I have setup NTP on our Cisco 2801 but for some reason the time on our PCs here is still not correct (it's about 5 minutes fast). Here's what I have in the 2801 config for NTP:
scheduler allocate 20000 1000
ntp clock-period 17178933
ntp update-calendar
ntp server XX.XXX.XXX.X
Am I missing...
Sorry about the confusion. I still can't get it to work with IE, windows explorer or firefox.... however, it works fine with an FTP client now and in my mind that's the best way to go anyways seeing as how there are several free ones available. Thanks for your help.
Is there a way for me to test it externally from inside our network? We used to have a mobile broadband card that was nice for this kind of thing but we cancelled it. If I try and connect to it via the public IP from work it doesn't connect but that's to be expected I suppose.
You're probably right.... explorer really shouldn't be needed. I think I'll leave it as is so either a command prompt or FTP software should do the trick just fine.
I've setup an internal FTP server on our network at work. I tested it internally and it worked fine. Then I created a sub domain with our hosting commpany and forwarded the public IP to the server through our Cisco 2801 with NAT. I can login to it from outside our network with a command prompt...

Yes, when the issue happens I can ping the exchange server from the client and see the entire network as usual.
Yes, I have verified that the issue exists. Seems the only way I could "fix" it was to take Outlook clients off cached mode or having the user reboot their PC and reopen Outlook. This...
