This is a really strange one...
I have been using the google calendar to send SMS alerts for calendar events to my mobile phone.
I know that you can sms phones by using the [phonenumber]@teleflip.com or other carrier emails.
I see that you can hook up a phone to your computer to send SMS via the cell network and some free...
Here's a tip - turn on conflict detection in dhcp
Open dhcp mmc - go to server properties - advanced tab.
You'll see conflict detection attempts - turn it to 2 or the like.
Before handing out an address, the server will then ping that address before handing it out.
You're right - geez this browser issue is a problem...
I did find a link while searching...

The batch file method i was talking about should work in a domain environment as well.
The basic principle is assign a "user" account to each "pc" and having them map their drive using the repective account.
Good luck!
i agree - the only time i use a user's account for troubleshooting is when they are present.
i make sure to tell people that i can't see their current password, but if necessary i can reset it.
i don't think it would be wise to be able to impersonate anyone on the network - there is a...
I have found that having users run as users in windows xp is a real pain - but necessary. I have found that applying the compatws.inf security template fixes a lot of user permission issues without making them power users or admins.

I believe you can use a batch file to map a drive with a user name...
since i am assuming you don't have a domain...create a USER account for the computer (i.e. pc-01) on the server. give this user write access to the share that pc-01 needs. Repeat for other pcs.
give your general helpdesk...
netsh will work on windows 2003.
when you turn on dhcp, make sure you set a limit on leases (like 2 weeks or a month, depending on how mobile the workforce is).
Whatever you set the lease to, make sure you set scavenging on your dns servers (assuming they are win 2k/2k3 as well). Make sure...
I have a windows 2k3 box running as a stand-alone server. There is no domain. I keep finding things pointing to DC stuff - but there is not one in this network - very small, just 4 pcs and one server.
This server does run Trend micro SMB (uses apache), WINS, DNS (int res w/ fwd and rev...
Just stumbled across this - but may help anyway.
No, you don't have to delete the computer accounts, but you should reset them (right-click and you'll see the option, do one @ a time).
Computer accounts are just like user accounts, so the best practice is to reset them if imaging them. This...
I have been having this issue with many different clients on my network.
I have issues printing (printer queues but does not print docs, does not show an error!), logging off, other programs locking up.
This application says it is not responding will have the "end now" dialog. i can't find...
I see - i found it under:
lines -> (line #) -> trunk/line data -> trunk mode
Default is unspr (unsupervised, i am guessing).
I changed them to super (supervised).
Thanks for your help!
