Veritas will tell you that it's not SUPPORTED under Red Hat 7.x, but that doens't mean that it's not compatible. Insufficinet Previleges - Connection to Device is Lost
I just had a similar problem, but in my case it was that the agent had to be updated. I had installed Version 5.1 revision 5.025 and never saw the server as being available on the backup server. This seems to be because the machine was dual-homed. The installer for Version 5.1 revision 5.030...- jtollert
