Well the good news is that I'm not completely out of ports, so I'm OK. The bad news is that I bought a module that I can't use... the vendor did a site survey beforehand and was well aware of my software version, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't have told me I needed to upgrade to use that...
Aha! I think Deweyhumbolt may have solved my mystery: I don't think our software is up to 7.0. My version code reads 30BJG02, but I can't find "BJ" in the translations anywhere, so I'm not exactly sure what version I'm on. Anyone know?
As for which port I'm using, it's the 2nd from the top...
Using port 13 (if that's how it's numbered)...
With jerryreeve's mention of "unexpected defaulting", we're starting to get out of my comfort zone. I don't know how to backup or restore the system, so if I take down a whole station module at 6:30 tomorrow morning and can't get it back up I'm...
Hmm--the module I'm working with is showing empty. Bad port/cable/module is starting to look likely.
Is it safe to swap the cable/port with the system powered on, or do I need to shut it down for that? All the known good ports are in use, but I can try it early morning tomorrow before hours...
I verified that this module is set as a station module, but I don't see a way to disable the module under Hardware--only can change it between Station, Analog, and Data modules. Is there another place I should be looking for this?
The bad fiber port/cable is entirely possible, but...
Boy is my face red... Unfortunately it didn't work.
Originally I plugged all 4 phones in before I punched down the cross connects, and all of the phones were just flashing as if they were trying to pick up an extension for about an hour and a half. I unplugged all the phones and punched a...
I have a MICS that I recently added a few station modules to. I punched down a few sets this morning only to find that all of the ports on my last station module are showing "none" for the assigned DN (in maintenance > port status). I know how to do a normal Change DN to assign the extension I...
That didn't quite do the trick (the phone was in obscure conference room), but by a blind stroke of luck someone told me to check in the exact right location. Thanks!
I'm the new IT guy for my company and know pretty much nothing about phone systems. I usually have someone else take care of this kind of thing, but I've had them out twice this week, and it's an urgent problem that they won't be able to get to today. While this is very basic, I would...
