your problem is with router 192.168.50.1
it doesn't seem to know how to get back to your client (192.168.5.125) whereas router 192.168.1.229 does know how.
so adding routes to your sco system may be unecessary.
although you may try adding the following route to server b.
route add -net...
if you are able to ftp /etc/passwd then you could copy it local and edit it for the following ( taken from faq58-1366 )
"Edit /etc/passwd. The first line will be your root line, such as

if the printer is directly connected you can just cat the file to the device file.
more than likely you will have to wrap the font file with commands that are specific to the printer to tell it to load it as a font.

either your system can resolve and connect directly to the external target systems or you define a smarthost that can and accepts relaying.
it's probably difficult to type stty since y is one of the keys he is having problems with......
