Can anyone recommend a piece of software that can track software and hardware assets, warranties, contact info for each product, etc.?
Ideally we'd like this software to be web-based, and have a SQL Server back-end. Also, some sort of alert-notification system would be great (for soon to...
Thanks for the link.
I guess I'm sorta confused. Some comapnies such as Adobe give you access to an MSI file during a locl install which can be used to deploy thru GPO's. However, other softawre like Real Player doesn't have one.
Does this mean I have to repackage one myself? If so, I can't...
Is there a listing of MSI files available somewhere that I can review? I'd like to be able to deploy software through GPO (like Adobe), but it seems like not everyone makes MSI files available.
Thanks
There were the two standard domain GPO's. Somewhere they were locking the ability to edit the local computer security policies. I couldn't find anything, but once I disabled both GPO's all was fine.
If our web host is thru GoDaddy, and we have a shared site (meaning we don't have a static IP), should we just enter the FTP address as our IP?
Thoughts?
One more thing:
If I access the Local Computer Security Policy (gpedit.msc), these are the folder which are locked out (You can see a little lock icon next to the folder):
- Computer Config > Security Settings > Account Policies
- Computer Config > Security Settings > Local Policies
What's...
That'd odd. I combed thru the GPO, couldn;t find anything, reinstalled the Group Policy Management console thinking it would reset all policies, but still the local policies are in effect. Thoughts?
I have a Win2003 server, and need to edit the Local Computer Security Policy. What's odd is that everything is greyed out. I cannot make any changes even though I'm logged in as the domain admin.
Thoughts?
I tried adding an A record in DNS, but got this message:
Warming: The associated pointer (PTR) record cannot be created, probably because the referenced reverse lookup zone cannot be found.
Thoughts?
Our network was setup so that the DNS suffix is domain.com, instead of domain.local.
The problem is that all requests to our web site at www.domain.com are blocked. Could the DNS suffix be a conflict? If so, how do we repair it without screwing up the whole network?
Thanks
All my WinXP workstations get this error message every time someone logs on:
"The security log is full. Only administrators can log on the fix the problem."
Apparently the local computer policy has many custom settings that I cannot change. Even as the local admin. I tried to reset the local...
I used this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;280765
I checked under Public Folders and there was an alias assocaited to the folder name. Odd though, but worked. Thanks
For some reason whenever I create a new AD user with an Exchange mailbox, the e-mail address includes the number '2' at the end. This has really messed up mailbox creations altogether.
Thoughts?
I had to rebuild a workstation 3x this weekend (totally different story!). Prior to each build I installed Adobe Acrobat Standard 8 each time.
Now that my box is up and running for good, the license is no longer good, and I'm forced to get a new serial number.
Any ideas on how to get one even...
Jeff,
Ends up I posted the question in the wrong forum. It was supposed to be in the Windows 2003 forum. However if you have any suggestions to my original question it would be muich appreciated.
Thanks
