As I recall Platinum Equity paid 8 Billion and bought all AVAYA stock. Then made the company private and billed the cost of going private back to AVAYA. Then they spent 900 million and bought Nortel and all of its legacy pension obligations. Hence the recent bankruptcy. It was a dumb idea...
You can configure the two lan interfaces on the g450 with differennt ip addresses and vlans. Then have someone move the patch cable. It can be tricky, but it works. Test in lab setting befor trying for real. Did it a few years ago during a merger.
For example, if you have a mix of 10 g430 and g450 gateways they all register to an S8300. If your S8300 becomes unavailable to any of them those gateways will look for an S8300 LSP. If there is no LSP they finally run in SLS mode. Of course you have to confige SLS properly on each gateway...
I spent 2003 to 2018 playing with AVAYA CM and IP Office. I say playing because it was that much fun to work with.
However, various turns of events have me working as a Network Engineer today, and I seldom see phones, much less AVAYA phones.
So is anyone still installing AVAYA CM type phone...
Since the ShoreTel forum looks a bit dead, I am hopeful the Mitel forum is now the place.
I have IP480g and IP485g phones. Mitel documentation claims NTP can be set via DHCP and/or by using custom.txt files from the NTP server.
We have exhausted reasonable efforts to make either the DHCP or...
Adding the following sections to the snmpview.cfg will allow values to be either highlighted or lowlighted according to whether they are above or below desired thresholds.
#optionale Maximalwerte für OID-Tabelle 0 Syntax: Spaltenindex=Maximalwert
#optional maximal values for OID table 0 syntax...
Could it be a violation of AVAYA's mysterious "Double Coverage" security rule? Coverage the first time to voicemail is okay. But if something uses coverage to get to something else that covers to voicemail then voicemail doesn't answer because of "Double Coverage".
I have a high dollar SNMP (single pane of glass server) especially for the purpose of monitoring all of this stuff. But it doesn't understand AVAYA MIBs, it requires customization, needs special licensing, we don't have anyone who can do the administration, etc, etc, so this works for my...
I would use a spreadsheet (Excel) to make all 255 entries. There isn't shorthand that I know of. In the past I have had devices lists with 17,000 entries to try and account for all subnets in my network.
Once you get the hang of the phone inventory you can also do gateways.
The following command needs to be set in each of the gateways for the SNMPview to get a response. This must match the community name in the devices.txt file.
snmp-server comm read-o mycommunity read-w mycommunity
Edit...
I have been using a freeware program since late 2012 to generate inventory of IP phones – 1600 and 96x1 models. The program can be found here -> http://www.snmpview.de/xxx0815.php
In ASA - change system-parameters ip-options
See page 3 and set your community name. It must match the community...
This post is just to gauge interest. I use a freeware tool to keep track of about 900 phones at 35 locations across the country. If having the details about how to do this is of interest to you let me know and I'll post it here if there is enough interest.
Just and FYI, it is possible to setup SIP trunks to an AVAYA PBX without the huge expense associated with System/Session Manager. I am not saying we won't go that direction in the future. For now at least we are able to try out our carrier's SIP product without committing huge sums of cash to...
Is anyone here familiar with delivery of SIP trunking over their MPLS network instead of the public internet?
CenturyLink has a new platform called 'Hosted VoIP'
It acts like a hosted PBX in one sense, however, it allows for the configuration of SIP trunking sessions between the CPE and the...
