Thanks for your responses. I'll be checking into it....

Loop Start Supervision & POTS Lines Run Outside of PBX?

Thanks ATeam, The carrier's tech rep told me that they are POTS lines but he said only the PBX vendor could know for sure if they are terminated at the PBX. Problem is the PBX vendor isn't available for me to ask (long story). Anyway, most of these lines are billed as flat rate with a few as...

Loop Start Supervision & POTS Lines Run Outside of PBX?

Hello to All, Basic question. If I have ten regular POTS lines that have loop-start supervision, is it likely that they are running independently from the PBX? We are running a Nortel Meridian PBX with 3 PRI's and I think they are the only interconnect to the PBX. This may not be enough...

    Newbie Help

Thanks. I picked up a copy of Telecom Audit by MS Mastel which has been very helpful. It's been great with the pricing side of things but wish it was a bit more technical.

    Newbie Question

Thanks for your input. I'm wondering if they can't get away with 2 PRI rather than 3. Save them ~$6000/year.

    Newbie Question

Even at the peak of 427 CCS = 11.9 Erlangs Using P0.01 Erlang B Should need only ~27 Trunks (not 70). First PRI configured DID only, other 2 configured In/Out. No unusual call patterns like in a call center, just a regular somewhat quiet office environment. Thoughts anyone? Also, does...

    Newbie Question

Nazule, So we have an average 19.4 % CCS Capacity @Target GOS for 70 Trunks (3 PRI) for a week long BO study. The peak was 427 ccs / 1873 ccs for a percentage of 22.8 % Seems to me to be WAY too much capacity. Wish they had broken it down into in/out. Any thoughts?

    PRIs verses T1

hawks, donporter, and Lundah: Thanks for your replies. Your advice and input is greatly appreciated. I'm going to try and get a copy of the Customer Service Record to see what the provider has currently provisioned. I've heard some LEC's can be a pain about this but we'll see. I'm starting...

    Newbie Question

Thanks, John for your reply. The RFP is for a local government agency that needs technical support in the writing of a telecom services RFP. They bought the PBX ~5 years ago and are not interested in any hardware changes or upgrades. They don't even want me to interact with the PBX...

I've been asked to help out on a project involving setting up telecom requirements for a PBX system. The requirements are for an...

    PRIs verses T1

TouchToneTommy and hawks thank you for your replies. The T1 (not PRI) is for LD but the thing I don't get is that all of the services (local, LD, and Internet) are provided by the same service provider. Why do you need a dedicated trunk for LD if once you get to the End Office of the provider...

    PRIs verses T1

An Add on to my last post. Why would a T1 be used for direct access to LD while PRIs are being used for local loop access? Can you not use PRIs to get to the LD carrier? TIA for any illumination you may have....
