No boot - No beep - Blank screen

PART 1 I normally keep my machine running 24/7 - with a day or 2 off every few weeks. I went on vacation earlier this month and had it off for a week. When I went to turn it back on, nothing showed on the monitor. I figured the monitor was having "issues", so I unplugged it and plugged...

    WinXP setup in MSDOS mode

OK, so I guess when they say its a full install, it is a full install but in a way, done like an upgrade (since you NEED to have an operating system already there). 1 question WHYYYY????? installing new hdd

Did you go into the BIOS and tell it to redetect all HDD's and make sure that they are what you have plugged in? I also know that Maxtor has "issues" when you use the hard drives software to format and partition it. Try and use the Maxtor disks software to restore the MBR. Just...

I have a Maxtor HDD that was format

I have a Maxtor HDD that was formatted with the Maxtor software which makes it so that all I can see is a virtual drive when I get to a DOS prompt. It said I had a problem with my MSDOS.SYS file which I was able to fix by having it hooked up as a slave with another drive. Now it says my...

I held CTRL down with the boot disk and again without the boot disk. I still ended up in the same place. Does it matter if I hold it down the whole time she boots or only at a particular point? Good thought - Ill try disabling SMART. Now so far as choosing the SafeMode Command...
