Does this happen on another computer with the same user setup in Outlook?
Have you tried remove/re-adding the user profile?

Setup a separate personal folder(.pst) then copy or drag the task items to the personal folder(.pst). Depending the size this may take a bit. When I did it, I let it run over night.
When this finished it should copy to the local drive then burn it to a cd or dvd.
