    A neighbors 2.5 drive died. Windows couldn't read it. The freezer trick didn't work. Knoppix worked for this Hitachi.

    I've had two hard drives (3.5 and 2.5)go bad and windows wasn't able to see/recover the data. I had to boot into Knoppix live CD and recover the data.
