Bizarre XP VPN Probs. About to slash wrists. Please Help!!

Prak355: I recently spent 5 hours with Microsoft on this same issue. We tried everything, including the Winsock rolling back Hotfixes, etc. My clients could VPN into other servers setup the same way, no problem. The problem was limited only to this one particular server W2k and WinXP SP1...

Windows XP/2000 Computer Clients Cannot Login to Windows 2000 Server D

The errors listed might indicate a conflict with the NIC. Check to see if there are any interupt conflicts with the NIC.

Windows XP/2000 Computer Clients Cannot Login to Windows 2000 Server D

Knight: I assume that Client for Microsoft networks is installed on your clients. This error is consistent with that missing. Is your DNS authorized?

getting other computer to connect to internet threw win2k server

I suggset that you get another hub. Just a standard hub. Plug all your machines into it. Connect one cable from the new hub to the linksys router that goes out to the Internet. Disable DHCP on the router. Assign your IPs to each PC. 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102, etc. The Gateway will be...

    WIN98 mapped drives become unavailable.

eruss: I have seen this happen and the key feature was that the client had to reboot before reconnect was possible. This meant it was a licensing issue. Make sure you have enough licenses allocated on the server for the number of users. Increase as necessary.

Windows XP/2000 Computer Clients Cannot Login to Windows 2000 Server D

Knight: Make sure the DNS setting on the clients is the server address and not the ISP DNS. Then setup a forwarder in DNS on the server with the ISP DNS address. In DNS highlight the server, go the action menu /properties/forwarder tab and put in ISP DNS. If forwarder option is dimmed -...

getting other computer to connect to internet threw win2k server

I'm not that clear on what you are asking, but if you are using the defaults on the linksys: the router address is 192.169.1.1 - so set the gateway on your PCs to that address. Set the DNS on the PCs to the Server address - 192.169.1.110. Setup a forwarder in DNS on the server to the DNS of...

mapped drive disconnect on two linked PDCs

Gentlemen: I have linked two Win2K PDCs together in order to share an accounting package utilizing the Pervasive 2000 database engine. I have mapped drives to each server. The drive mapping on the clients of the one PDC connected to the PDC running the application disconnects after a short...

    W2K server licensing

LDaveM: This depends on how many licenses are setup in Licensing. You have to setup the number of users (clients). If the number of users exceeds the number set in licensing, you may begin to see some users disconnected from mapped drives, new logons typically bump others - requiring a...

    Netlogon service failure

Lengoo: Don't know why you would be missing that dll. You might pick it up at this link. The funny characters - I would check my security, see if you have been hacked. http://dll.yaroslavl.ru/

VPN Connection from home to Work

AGA: When you start your machine and logon to the office network you use a certain username and password, right? i.e. username: aga password: ******. Setup a user with that username and password on your home network. when you tunnel into the home network, use that username and password, not...

    Connecting two PDCs/Trust

Thanks brontosaurus! The DNS settings for both NICS are the ISP DNS. Both Servers are sharing a T1 connection. The server with the 2 NICs - one is connected to its internal, local network switch, the other to the switch of the other network. Each of the network switches are tied into a third...

How to expande drive space on primary partition.

You need a product such as Volume Manager by Power Quest. Get ready to spend some $$ - it's around $400 or so. Some of the less expensive partition redo products will not work with WIN2K server, only on clients. Your drives must still be formatted as "basic drives" for this to work...

    Connecting two PDCs/Trust

All: I am creating a trust between two PDCs. One PDC has 2 NICs, the other just one. The trust works and users on the multihomed PDC can see the resources I want them to see on the PDC with one NIC. The problem is that the users on the multihomed server network realize a severe slowdown in...

    Windows 2000 Server network problem

jpate: Have you tried giving the server one of the static IPs of a workstation that works? Maybe the IP was not provisioned correctly or something has happened to it.

    Domain problems

I forgot to add - that I can VPN to the server with no problems. The w2k is a fresh install - about 1.5 years old. Something would have had to become "corrupted" in the last few weeks. Could it be something from a trust relationship?

    loss of mapped drives 2000 server/2000 & 98 clients

Brontosaurus is correct. But it could also be a license issue - not enough licenses
