One more question on repairing MBR....I have another drive I wanted to try to repair...this drive shows in the System Recovery Options. Doing a start up repair doesn't work so I went to Command Prompt and as per my previous post I used the link there that goes through repair options in command...
Thanks for the replies....hoping not to hear that about the hard drive but it does seem like that is the problem.
DrBob....yes I can hear the drive running and a light consistent clicking.
I just put this drive in a few months ago maybe I can get some warranty from Dell...IDK
Thanks again for...
Greetings and thanks for viewing this thread,
Please forgive if this has been asked before but I searched the threads and didn't find quite what I was looking for there.
I have a Dell 1545 Inspiron laptop running Win 7 Ultimate 64. Last week while sitting at home I got up and caught the cord...
Thanks for the helpful information from linney and vacunita, yes google is my friend and certainly I searched there before coming here. I did find many articles on this folder and found many conflicting opinions about size and reigning in the size. I was hoping for more hands on experiential...
I apologize if this has been asked before I just didn't see any previous questions about this topic in my search here. I was using windirstat to clean up some files on my laptop. I run Win 7 Ultimate. I saw a file called winsxs and the size is over 16gig. Just wondering any info about this file...
Yep I can use Google but...not enough to figure out about Win 7/Apple rules I guess. I do understand Latin terrible memories from my upbringing :-( BTW I am a polyglot, ??????? ????, Español, Deutsch, quod Latin.
Thanks for all the help on the Apple subject. I will just find my way working on...
Thanks BigBadBen,
"Not legally...
The APPLE EULA states that you are not allowed to install OS-X on NON-APPLE hardware..."
I didn't know that, it seems there is a lot of information out there on how to do it. I never thought that it wasn't legal by Apple's standards. I assumed once you buy...
Thanks BillyRayPreachersSon,
I guess my post wasn't quite clear...I have a windows based laptop and want to add Mac OSX to it.
But thanks for the reply
Hi all,
Don't know if I am out of bounds here but I was wondering if anyone knows if a Mac OSX #-) will dual boot with win 7 64 bit system [love]. I can find ways to do it for mac/windows but just not sure if mac operates on 64 bit tech...? I don't care for Mac but my daughter bought a mac...
Went ahead with the xp install, now running the 7 with a clean install. Seems to be moving along just fine. :) I didn't want have to buy a new drive for this computer as my brother and fam (their computer)are in hard times, not desperate but certain they have more important things to put money...
OK Thanks for in info.
I did try one more time to install Win 7 on that drive. There was an error about a device driver missing, cd/dvd, something of the sort. It asked me to put in media i.e.,floppy,cd,memory stick, that has the driver and install. Anyway, I went digging around to find my...
I'm not familiar with RAID...SATA drives have a different connector than the IDE don't they? Wouldn't I still need a cable to connect the SATA to the mobo?
BigBadBen,
I used DBAN and nuked the drive. Still come up with a message the "the file usbehci.sys file is corrupted." Same message as originally posted. Is this a type of message from a bad HDD/MBR sector? Strange even after "nuking", it still has the same message. I am using a Dell install...
goombawaho:
I did check the hard drive with utilities IDE drive passed. I did pull out an old drive from my garage that I used to run W2K on. I thought I would plug it in and see what happened, well I got W2K up and running, had to repair that installation as well. Something I couldn't do a...
BigBadBen: The only setting in the BIOS for hard drive is IDE drive UDMA on/off
On the OS install I don't really care if anything from the old system is saved/destroyed/lost it is of no consequence at this point. According to my brother so many files were apparently damaged by the virus they...
I have tried to do a repair install but all I get once passed the initial set up with the XP cd, there is no option to choose any install. Press F2 if I want to use ASR but there is no floppy on this computer and I don't have the disks for it anyway. Once it gets passed initial set up load, the...
Thanks for looking at this thread,
Yesterday my brother brought me his Dell Dimension B110 desktop. The info I have is scant but apparently it had some big virus problems and someone tried to clean it but they seem to have messed with more than necessary, or the virus destroyed the boot file...
