Hi timwah,
I'm working for more than 20 years with Hitachi Storage systems, never heard of such a problem. It seems to me that some wrong configuration information was hold in shared memory which caused the error. I don't think it is possible that a bad cache dimm can cause a problem in the...
Normally you just have to switch off the controller and replace the cache board and switch on again. But there could be cases when you have 'pinned data', that means the data in cache could not be written to disk. In these cases a special handling is required.

The difference between HP and HDS/SUN HighEnd storage systems is the software and the version of microcode. The hardware of the XP512 and HDS9960 is the same. The same is with HP XP1024 and HDS 9980V. But be careful, these disks have a special firmware. You only may use disks from 'Hitachi...
Hi,
60MB write throughput might be the maximum you can achieve with the 9960 for your configuration. Most 9960 still have 1Gbit Channel adapters ( = 100MB theoretical maximum), so the only way would be to provide more channel pathes between the servers and the 9960.

It is in directory Manual and called PARTS.PDF
Hope this helps
