Flash drives have a finite amount of writes in them, and they are very suceptible to power shorts.
Always back them up... good thing though is they are cheaper then ever before. :)
The obvious has been stated
* Check jumper
* Try different combinations (CS, S and M or M and S)
* Try different IDE cables
* Connect each IDE HD to each port (take off the CD/DVD drive)
* Keep trying..
I've honestly sat for a hour changing and tryin the same combination again and again ...
If it still dosn't read from the floppy - I had to slipstream my copy of XP with the drivers in them.
Its something to the effect of tossing your files in a $1 subdirectory in the OEM folder.

May I suggest that you "clean up" your PC and backup all your external files. After you have everything installed and jus the way you like it (minus your documents and media files) - image-backup your computer...
You also can reinstall windows - but choose the "restore" option, again this is not the recovery console. This will replace windows and all replace your computer name - so you will have to pull all your documents and settings.
