Finally something posted that I'm an expert on!
Back in the days of 10 party lines, customers were given unique ring patterns to know which call was theirs, like two shorts and a long. My grandmother would pickup calls not for her and listen in. When 8 party lines came in customers had ringers...
I'm using Excel spreadsheets to keep track of who, what, where, cable pairs and jacks. With over 1900 pairs prewired to jacks there must be a better way. Should I build something with Access to track moves adds and changes? I haven't found any software online that is suitable.
Yes, We have stand alone DVR's that unfortunately do not put the beep on the line. In the past we have used the units that you place between the phone and the handset, which is a PITA. The rep for the recorders suggested that the switch could put the beep on.
We've got an option 81C with CallPilot
I had a request to provide a means to, in an emergency, push a button and have 8 extensions ring simultaneously and conference together. I don't think it's possible, just using the PBX, but, my experience with this PBX is limited.
We've got an option 81 w/callpilot.
I would like find some way to play a .wav file over our PA in order to test speakers. Feedback is a big problem here. I have a Spectralink handset and if I try to page while standing within range of the speaker, it get feedback.
My other option is to have...
Code now requires a ground mat be installed outside the building."
Is this out west in sandy soil?
The only place we installed grounding grids were CO's, remotes and cell towers. Those had ground rods cad-welded to the grid. Poles, pedistals and crossconnect boxes used 10ft ground rods.
I worked as an installer repairman for GTE. I had a customer report that the dog howls every time the phone rings. Yea, right. I get there and test it and sure enough the dog howls like crazy when they get a call.
The dog is standing in mud with a chain collar tied to a chain tied to the ground...
Lightning not only burns up equipment...It kills.
What you need are 50 pair entrance terminals. 3M makes about a bizillion different types, indoor, outdoor, with crossconnects, punchdown or twistlock, etc.
Grounding is what it says, hooking to an available ground.
Bonding is making sure all...
Thanks to bigindian65 and RS528. I used both their suggestions and it looks like it will work perfectly for the situation.
Sometimes you're looking for a complicated solution when a simple one will do.
Mr.A and Mr.B have 2616's and are in and out of their offices constantly.
Their calls forward to Ms.C's 2616 on no answer.
They want to have someone answering their calls like an attendant.
However, Ms.C is now having health issues and is out of the office more than she's there.
Rather than hire...
If you're being billed for the power or telephone pole contacts, I'd go to them and ask for the list of contacts by address. If you're not being billed, you've fallen through the cracks. Telcos and power companies even bill each other for contacts. That should solve the aerial part. The buried...
When I worked for a LEC, we pursued installing a DACS frame in our largest central office. Essentially to replace the frame worker. If you've got a huge budget, it's possible. I think it also had the ability to split the circuits and 4tel test cable pairs. Not to be confused with a 1/0 or 3/1 DACS.
Has anyone tried using the amp sl 110 termination tool with blackbox gigabase2 universal jacks. I called amp to see if they thought they were compatible. I'd have been better off asking my eight year old.
I have four 2616's, extensions 0310,0320,0412 and 0398.
0310 and 0320 have VMS. All are in the same RNPG.
0412 has ringing appearances of 0310 and 0320.
Normally 0310 and 0320 pickup their own calls when they are in their offices.
When they are out, 0412 will pickup their calls.
Lately, the...
