"higher than 1024 cylinder during boot up" That shouldn't be a problem anymore, and it definately doesn't explain why the lilo screen doesn't appear, as lilo should be in the MBR!
Where did you install Lilo? did you put it in the MBR of the first harddrive (hda)?
A couple of things I can think of that may help!
If you run:
Hdparm -Tt /dev/hda (assuming you have linux on hda)
what is the second speed? If it is 5 Mb/s then you do not have DMA enabled, try enabling with hdparm (see its help) if you can't DMA support may not be in the kernel (time to build...
Don't know much about mandrake, don't like it! :)
However try 'modprobe emu10k1' if the module is available this will kick it off for your soundcard (and put this in your startup). If this isn't available you will have to recompile your kernel with emu10k1 as a module or built-in.
Linux is a great game system, RTCW and Quake 3 run faster for me under linux than windows (more FPS), also get less latency playing online! :)
As for your problem look for README or INSTALL files, they normally have detailed instructions!
Its a dual XEON server with 3GB of ram, and its only an archive directory. But I agree it is nuts, but they want proof, ie I can't find anywhere that MS say not to have 50,000+ files in a directory :(
Some clients can be real troublesome! :(
eg. Code will say:
copy file A to B
delete A
Most of the time it is OK but at times B is created correctly but when the "delete A" line is run it says "file not found".
My theory is that because the directory that B is being placed contains approx 50,000+ files that...
LOL,
Thanks again, and yes it is the Crystal Reports internal MAPI function that changes the working directory. Everything is fine until the client uses the MAPI export and the working directory gets changed..... Wish I could make the Crystal Window Modal as that would make life a lot easier...
Yeah I understand it is a problem of Crystal Reports: however I am going to have to use Foxpro to get around the problem.
Now one way to do this would be if I could tell when my foxpro application lost focus (not the form the entire application) and when it got focus back again, whereupon I...
Yeah that doesn't work properly, you see the problem is when you create/display the crystal report it doesn't change the directory, it is only if the user clicks the export button on the crystal window and exports to MAPI then the working directory changes.
Unfortunately if I followed your...
When a crystal report is brought up (using OCX Crystal32 control) under foxpro version 6, and then the report is exported to a mail recipiant, crystal seems to change the working directory, so when I return to my application and it is assuming that the working directory has not changed it will...
The last line should read "nor does it trigger that it gotfocus when 'focus' is returned from another application that was being run over the top!
OK try and be more precise....
My program has a grid on it that refreshes frequently (on a timer) if another window in the program is opened the timer is paused using 'lostfocus', the problem is when they open another application, the foxpro form doesn't realise that it has lostfocus nor does...
That sounds like jibberish, oops :-)
My problem is if a user opens another form say from the menu, I can trap the lost focus in the current form and execute code at that point.
If the user clicks on an application icon for example in there windows toolbar, the currently active foxpro form...
