Issue found and fixed. The IE6 Test Image.exe file did not expand properly and as a result could not boot from the hard drive image, therefore attempted to pxe boot.
Yuu will find that the folder where your application data is redirected to is within a cached folder on the server. If this said folder is also used for clients "My Documents" you will want to leave it caching since removing the caching feature will disrupt offline data store on client machines...
I have installed Virtual PC 2007 on two XP machines both having an AMD 939 64 bit CPU's and are running XP Pro 32 bit O/S natively. When I try and load the latest MS test image I can read the pxe boot information and it attempts to load a 64 bit image which fails due to the native 32 bit O/S...
Hi. Is your profile being stored on a server within your LAN? 50 MB is normal when folder redirection is involved. Since your Desktop folder is part of your profile, it that where most of the space is being used?
Next time you lock the screen, make sure Task Mgr. is open. Ctlr-Alt-Del after unlocking and see if explorer.exe is running. If not from the Task Mgr. open a cmd prompt and issue prompt>explorer.exe to start. If explorer.exe is not running, no desktop.
Why create a second group with/for computers when its users you are trying to control?. Why not create a second group of users. In the shared folder properties, disallow the second group.
I am a bit confused from your post, but let me say this: Assuming Server 1 was initialised with <namespace> creating \\server 1\Files Files then targets Accounting share. Server 2 does not require a duplicated <namespace> but does require Accounting share. One primary server will keep the...
I have two W2K3 Servers, both Active Directory. I have a DFS Name Space set up with Folders and Targets but which are replicating using FRS. I need to migrate them to DFS Replication. When I try to delete the folders I am promted with "unable to ....replicated using frs" and can't remove? Has...
Using a Live Linux Distro (Knoppix for instance) and dd you could copy bit for bit the current drive to a larger disk. Once completed, along with the boot partition, you could again use a Live Linux Distro to grow the partition as required. Not as fast as imaging, but certainly more cost...
We have Win2K Adv Server with AD using Roaming Profiles for XP Client machines. One client in particular makes changes to, for instance, Bookmarks or Outlook 2003 preferences and the changes are gone after Logoff and Logon. This was fine prior to a new XP Machine for this user. XP Machine has...
After researching for a week, Ultrabac is the only company taking my requirements and need serious. I am interested in hearing more from users that have the product and any technical help they received from UltraBac. Thank you in advance.
Are you using Roaming Profile in Group Policy on the Domain? If so, likely the client machines are restoring each of their profiles during the login proces which creates a delay. Of cource, profile size is an issue as well providing you have this enabled.
I am interested in using a product called Data Replicator, noted in Mitch Tullocks book: Windows Server Hacks by O'Reilly. Any concerns / issues with this software? Thanks in advance.
Thanks Mark, DFS is out due to Raid 5 setup with a Dell card that doesn't support native DFS. I know that SYSVOL folder is replicated with AD. I will try and determine if I can include another folder, else will use 3rd party. I would assume that many environments suffer the same issue I am...

My question relates to Roaming Profiles and File Redirection. Is there a way to...
