    Try setting flow control to none. By the way, old console cables work. I make console cables for Nortel gear, and I can tell you that the same console cable I made in 1997 works on 2002 BPS2000s 450s 350s, etc.

    Serial port is wired straight-through. 8n1 9600 is standard, but some people change it. Try 19200. Try turning flow control off in your terminal settings.

    What rev of code are you running? A 5380 dates back to the pre-Nortel days, and may not be supported. Have you tried telling Optivity that the 5380 is an ASN router?
