I'm not going to mess with it until the weekend, but maybe the mapping of a local share will work. I'm not too clear on the USB/networking/local device stuff, which is why I tried here. Any additional thoughts or suggestions are welcome, and thanks for the comments!

I've read that I can direct my LPT1 port to a USB port using the NET USE command, but I need to know the IP address for the USB port to do that. Is there a way to find that IP address, or to list all IP addresses assigned on my PC, or a way to assign a local IP address to the USB port?
