Hello,
Thank you your help. I ended up moving all the data over to a newer model server with over 250 G of storage space. It was sitting there just in case our exchange server have any problem but i was able convince the boss to let me use it for file storage instead. I will wipe out the old...
I think I am going to just do this once and for all and reformat this old darn server. It is just a file server and I can basically hock up an external hard drive and copy the 30 G worth of data over for the time being.
Would I have to download a driver for the SCISI controller (for the hard...
Hello!
I have a Proliant 3000 server that is running out of disk space on the active partition. The active partition meaning the boot partition where WINNT folder and boot files are stored. There is only 1 Gig of HD on this partition and the 2nd partition is about 30 Gig. The problem I am...
Thank you Neil. After playing around with it I sort of figured that out and though recreating the array on the hard such as changing it from RAID 0 from RAID 5 sort wipe out the partition structure. I also swapped all the hard drives around :)
Actually I was playing with it couple time and rebooting with the Smart boot disk. Eventually the server recognized the storage array. When I went into the configuration option, it was showing me the server set up as RAID 0 and the storage array as RAID 5. I changed the Storage array to RAID...
Hello!
I have a Proliant 5000 server, which I have to wipe out all the data before sending it off to a non profit organization as donation. Additionally there is also couple of proliant storage arrays, which have hard, drives on it that I have to format before sending them off as well. I need...
All the problems I have encountered have been resolved. Thank you for all your response. For the errors above, all I have to do was recreate the backup jobs again. I ran a differential (monday to thursday) and a full backup every friday. I created a backup select list and associate this...
SQLBill, we got more than enough licence for the remote agent.
k3n85, I will try your ideas if today's backup job does not go through.
It seems to be backup up now since I moved the SCISI cable to a different slot (odd). The error I am getting now on two file servers and here they are...
Making sure that remote agent was install was the first thing I have looked at. I have even remote it and reinstall it again but still the problem persisted.
Hello there all!
We have 3 file servers and 1 small business server (SBS) which host our Exchange 2003. We have only began to use the SBS on our network and ever since our backup server has not been work really well. The backup server did work (at least most of the time) before I implemented...
Hi guys,
I am working on migrating our 5.5 Exchange server onto a new infrastructure altogether and this server will get consolidated onto a SBS 2003 box with all the major network core services. I am pretty much a newbie with BES installation but not totally put off by this endeavor. I am...
Hi NortonES2,
Have you seen BE 10d works on NT servers before? I just want to double check because it is because of the expert advice that screws up the original set up of my Backup Exec 8.5 software. So instead of redoing everything over again, I though I will just reformat the OS since I...
Hi, I have just upgraded our backup server to Windows 2000 Professional last night. It's a small firm and hence the version of OS being use as backup. Anyways, I am not stuck with this issue to whether go back to Back Exec 8.5 or go further with Back Exec 10d. While installing the Backup Exec...
Hi guys,
I would just like to know what is your opinion about installing Backup Exec 10d server on a W2K workstation rather than w2K server. To save some money because we already have the user license for the W2K workstation, I though this is the route to go since our company is very small.
I...
Steve,
I really appreciate your response. I don't know if we're going to move the HP Autoloader 1/9 tape drive to the SBS box. I did not think of that yet! Our current backup exec server is an NT box attached to the HP autoloader 1/9 via a SCSI cable. What I can do is to upgrade the NT...
Hello all:
I have read up a bit on the Backup Exec software 'cause we're planning to upgrade our existing backup exec 8.0 software so that it could backup the new SBS 2003 we're putting onto the network. I am just a bit confuse about the difference between BE v10.1 and BE v10d and was wonder...
