The SmartStart CD wouldn't even get to the point where I could choose an OS. The error would occur while SmartStart itself was still loading.
Anyway, I ended up installing straight from the Windows Server 2008 CD then installing PSP 8.10 which cleared up device manager.

I'm working on a reconditioned Proliant DL585 G1 server and am trying to reload Server 2008 x64. However, when I try to run SmartStart 8.0.0 x64 from either CD or USB Key it keeps saying "SmartStart has failed to load resource files in a timely manner".
Any help with this would be greatly...
I'm working on a reconditioned Proliant DL585 G1 for a customer and am curious about 2 things. First, in HP System Manager it lists the system model as "unknown". Second, in the Rom-based setup utility the system serial number is corrupt.
Is there a relatively easy way to correct these...
We are running 11d v7170 with SP1 and hotfixes 18-25 installed. I am downloading 11d SP2 right now. On the Exchange server, this problem was occurring prior to installing Exchange SP1 and is still happening. I will let you know if installing 11d SP2 makes any difference.

Here is our configuration:
Media server: Server 2003 SP2 32-bit, Backup Exec 11d, Exchange 2007 SP1 management tools 32-bit

Both machines are domain controllers (I know Exchange shouldn't be on a DC but that's how...
I have 2 Proliant 5500 servers. On is a quad P-Pro 200 (E39) with the old-style drive cage (uses card-edge adapters). I also have a dual P3 Xeon (P12) with the new-style drive cage.
Unfortunately, I cannot mount my 1.6" 50gb drives in the new cage because of their height. I was going to swap...
I have a Compaq Proliant 5500 (P12) with dual P3 Xeon 500mhz CPUs in it. I just got 4 P3 Xeon 550mhz CPUs with 303990-001 VRMs andd have a few questions.
First, when I put the 303990-001 VRMs in the system it complains that redundant VRMs aren't supported. Will the new VRMs still work correctly...
I have a Proliant 5500 server, which from what I understand is similar to the 3000. Using a Promise Ultra100 TX2 controller, both Windows 2000 and CentOS Linux recognize the IDE drive without error. However, I have not been able to get the server to boot from the controller.
Not sure if this...
Thanks for the info. I didn't know if the circuit board on the carrier caused any type of limitation or identification issues. As for Insight Manager, this is a standalone server which I don't intend to run any type of management software on so that isn't an issue.
Thanks again,
Mez
I have acquired an old Proliant 5500 server with quad Pentium Pro 200 processors and 1 Gb of RAM. The server currently has seven 4.3Gb drives in it (P/N: 242591-013) connected to a Compaq Smart Array 221 raid controller.
I am interested in putting in larger HDs in the server, but while looking...
