I have a sbs 2k3 primary dc with exchange.
also have a windows standard 2k3 that is on the same domain.
AD is sync'd between these 2 servers.
Some of my users log on to the windows standard 2k3 server.
Thier profiles arent being synced anywhere right now.

i have a laptop that is driving me nuts, alot of times it does not sync to the server on logoff.
Then all the sudden 3 weeks later, it will logon and sync the laptop with a bunch of files that the user has already deleted.

WinXP home runs the VMware server. VMware server has an image of Win2k3.
From WinXP home and Win2k3 i cant ping them from clients. They both act the same. I can shut down vmware (win2k3) and WinXP home acts not differently still.

Our firewall is OpenBSD, which is its own box, no firewalls on the clients besides the windows one, which ive disabled and tried and all that good stuff. Dont think its a firewall issue, all the clients can ping each other, the server can ping...

Clients cant talk to the server, unless the server is ping them, or if I add the server ip/mac to the client...

It seems like the problem is with ARP on the clients.
If i add a static ARP to the client of the server ip and mac it works fine.
(arp -s serverip servermac)
Trying to figure out how to solve this, I dont want to have to do this on all my clients...
Hello, from a client, i cannot connect to the server with vnc or our accounting system unless I ping the client from the server. Then it will allow them to connect.
What do you think is going on here? They are on the same network....

Just wanted to update on this.
Running VMware workstation with XP Home virtual machines and the clients connect to the virtual machines via VNC.
This is cheap and works great.
I have a SBS 2003 PDC with Exchange on my server.
I was wanting to turn it into a Virtual Machine for easier recovery, switching to different server if need be, and backup/testing purposes.
I dont have a ESX VM Converter cd, so I was going to build a new SBS environment on my desktop with VM...
no DC at the samba location.
I found a few docs on doing it. Ill have to have them put in another nic in the SAMBA as it has one with its own WAN IP not a LAN IP...

I think i need Win 2000 server addition, and it would run in application server mode correct?
And I will need additional licensing for these 2 clients correct?

Yea our Win2k3 SBS is the PDC. Its in the USA.
The Samba is in another country but connected via VPN.
Ive read a few articles about joining a Samba to a windows domain. To be honost I have not joined a server to a domain before, only winxp pro clients....
