Email migration to Office365. Two mx records.

Getting ready to migrate from Groupwise 8 to Office365. As we'll be moving over 100GB of data offline, we have to migrate a few users at a time. As this means we have to maintain two domains with the same name, I'm hoping to add an MX record to the new domain while keeping the original intact...

    CMS for an existing site

Thanks for the answers here. We're going to be redesigning the site next year and I'm also leaning toward Drupal.

    CMS for an existing site

I'm presently at my wits end with Contribute 3 and all of it's authentication and file lockout problems. The latest is the dreaded "Contribute cannot verify your connection information" error which started up this week. We've made no changes to permissions to any files and can access them fine...

    HP MSA 2012 drive trays

Trying to find a way to purchase drive trays for my MSA 2012 SAN. We have four open bays and if I buy from HP the drives are close to $600 each for 1TB drives. If I purchase the same drives without the trays from another vendor they are $150 each. HP will only sell the trays if we buy the...

    Auto disable of unused accounts

I have several computer accounts that I've recently had to disable because of non-use. I'm not sure if they're still valid and the computers in question are just not connecting very often so I didn't delete them. In the future I would like to just disable accounts if they don't get used...

Long term archives for local government

My city will soon be moving to OES2 suite with Groupwise and Zen, I'm excited about the move but have one concern. Local governments apparently fall under some laws requiring us to archive emails for a certain amount of time in order to guard against any litigation that might come up as the...

    Active Directory Seat Licensing

Well, I got my answer. Looks like we never purchased the CALs in the first place but once purchased they are permanent. The only thing that needs to be renewed is the maintenance allowing us to get version upgrades in the future. Now we just have to buy a bunch of CALs....

    Active Directory Seat Licensing

Well, I just got finished with a school on Server 2003 and I feel better about it but have a question. We originally had a volume license agreement that has expired. We've since replaced the servers and have the Server 2003 licenses paid for. I've looked over the volume license paperwork but...

    Backing up Global Catalog

Ok, three questions. Before I ask them and look really dumb I have to say my background is almost completely Novell and I've been having learn the hard way about Windows. (School is next month, finally). First, what's the name of the utility for the backup. Second, will it preserve the SIDs...

    Backing up Global Catalog

Hello, I'll be replacing a failed hard drive on a raid 5 setup (Server 2003). I've seen one of these go bad before and that was just really ugly. I'm trying to cover all of the bases just in case. I've created system state backups (Backup Exev 10d) and will be Ghosting the C drive but can't...

    Creating a new position

Yep, that sounds about right. Before this job I was at a California high school with 220 staff and 3500 students all with accounts. There were over 650 computers on campus and it was just two of us. Never a dull moment... I want to use the Trackit information but we just don't have the time...

    Creating a new position

Hello, I'm an IS Admin for a small town with about 215 users at 14 sites all connected to my server room\office. So far it's me and a part-time person taking care of all things computer related plus just about everything else that uses electricity. I'm trying to justify the need for another...

Change domain types from .local to .com

Still working on this, I've opened the firewall completely up, allowing all traffic both in and out. I threw security out the window awhile ago and still can't get the DNS servers to see each other. Any other thoughts out there not involving sledge hammers?

    Office closes right after opening

Thanks for the reply, I sure wish it was that easy. The users are already local admins. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office, recreated profiles and then just for good measure tried a repair. No go.

    Office closes right after opening

Hello, I've tried searching for this answer, sorry if it's been covered in detail already. I have two users that can't get Office to stay open, one is 2003 pro and the other is 2002. They get the popup from Microsoft that Office has encountered a problem and needs to close. Happens with...

Change domain types from .local to .com

If I have the ability to RDP to machines and can ping them from this side of the firewall and have allowed the appropriate ports, what else do I need to allow?

Change domain types from .local to .com

Hmmm, I added the hints and the firewall is allowing the Netbios ports. When I try to create a trust I the wizard still can't see the other domain (from either side) and wants to make a realm trust. I'm feeling sort of dumb here but can't the .local part of the domain name cause a problem?

Change domain types from .local to .com

Thanks for the info. I've tried to create a trust but the domain outside the firewall can't see the other one and vice-versa. I've tried creating non-transitive trusts on both side but can only make Realm trusts. That's not working. I've added DNS host names on both sides and can actually RDP...

Change domain types from .local to .com

Hello, We have one domain living behind an existing firewall on a class c IP (192.168.xxx.xxx). I want to create a trust and be able to get to the machines I support. I wasn't in on the configuration of this server but when I look at the domain names on my other two DCs I see that they are...
