How would I go about setting up windows 2003 dhcp server to assign ip addresses to multiple vlans?
Is there a way for the server to indentify a dhcp request from a specific vlan and assign the appropriate ip for that vlan?
You can't setup that route because the switch is already part of that network.
Think of this way. You have a pc with the following setup:
IP: 192.168.1.1
Mask: 255.255.255.0.
Now that pc should be able to communicate with any pc that is using this setup:
ip: 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254...
Well, I suppose you could have multiple gateways on a pc but I'm not sure how that will effect you access to other networks. I do know that you couldn't use the 192.168.2.20 as a additional gateway for the computer 10.11.1.51 because your gateways have been on the same network as the ip of the...
Yea, I can see how that would be confusing. Let say for example you configured the for following ip addresses for each vlan
10.11.1.2/255.255.255.0 for vlan1
10.11.2.2/255.255.255.0 for vlan2
then
the default gateway for each device on vlan1 should be set to 10.11.1.2.
the default gateway...
For vlanning to work, Each vlan has to be on its subnet. So for example if you were using 10.11.1.x for vlan1 and 10.11.2.x for vlan2 then you would need to use a mask (such as as class c mask 255.255.255.0) that would require them to use a router to talk to each other. In your case your hp...
Yes, you could just the main switch perform all of the routing between vlans. The only issue that comes to mind is how communication will there be between vlans and whether or not your main switch can handle it.
I happy to help. Just yell if you have any more questions.
To answer alfredspecial earlier question, you can easily setup two vlans on the 26500 and route between with out the need to use an external router.
1. Create 2 vlans
2. Assign ip addresses on the 2650 to each vlan and make sure they are not on the same network ie. 192.168.1.2/24 for...
I terminate the vlans at the core switch (hp5308) or gateway. My coreswitch is setup with access-lists to prevent members of vlan2 from accessing certain members of vlan 1. My firewall is on vlan 1 so, I have an access list to permit vlan2 members access to the firewall. The nice thing about...
I've been trying to do almost the exact same thing. I've have a number of procurve switches and a 5308 core switch.
I've pretty much got everything working. I have two vlans(vlan1 & vlan2). Vlan1 is my management vlan which my employees are on. I've setup multiple ports on vlan2. I have...
I meant say the "disable file estimate" is checked.
I've only applied updates to the servers running the arcserve produces. Is that 11.1 update strictly for win2003sp1 server that is not running arcserve?
I backup multiple windows nt,2000,2003 servers that a part of my nt domain. When I go to backup a server running 2003 sp1, the backup freezes with the job status "Calculate session". The disable file estimate feature is disabled on all of my backups. If I remove sp1 the issue doesn't occur...
