    I agree with comtec17. In addition, regardless if you use a shared disk array or disk within a SAN....be sure to isolate your log LUN's from your database LUNs. This will eliminate disk contention between the two. By isolation, I also mean separate physicals. (No disk stacking)

    Ditto on the separate Disk Groups! You'll be glad you did. We have two separate ones relative to Raid type, but the same "best practice" will serve you well for different physical disk speeds. Afterall, the fastest component will only be as fast as the slowest variable. Separate the two speeds...
