It appears from the IBM forum that a local installation of Notes IS necessary. It's not just a case of ID information, but other files are required.
Thanks to all who answered.
Martin.
Thanks diogenes10.
I have had a message from the SmartSuite Forum on the IBM website suggesting that a local installation of Notes is necessary before it will be picked up by Approach. I'll have to see if I can force the option to install manually.
I have also asked the correspondent on the...
I have a Lotus Notes .nsf file (v6.5) which I would like to open in Approach 9.8 (Millennium Edition).
The help file says "Go to File > Open" and "choose Lotus Notes - Local from Files Of Type".
The problem I have is that Lotus Notes - Local does not appear in my Files Of Type list.
Can anyone...

My guess is that either your data fields do not have double quotes around them, or that just one is missing.
e.g.
"field 1","field 2","field 3"
rather than
field 1, field 2, field 3
I also found it quite easy to miss the last double quote from the end of the line. That's probably...
pjo1966, Zoltan627 et al,
It is possible to get csv data out of SK98 calendar, but it's a bit of a convoluted process, and you need to be reasonably confident with a spreadsheet.
In the Sidekick program, select Reports > Calendar from the menus.
In the dialog which opens, select a date range...
It's the holiday period here in the UK, and I had a bit of time to play, so I checked out a few PIM packages.
After some time since my last visit, I returned to RedBox Organizer [http://www.inklineglobal.com/products/rbo/], and was pleasantly surprised.
It is now up to Version 6, and is getting...
I gather that TrueSunc Desktop is a progression from SK99,
but does it still have the limitation on the Task dates?
Can anyone tell me any other differences between SK99 and
TrueSunc Desktop. (I understand the latter will have support for more recent devices, including USB - I'm more...
Just felt I had to speak up in defence of C-Organizer and EssentialPIM. The latter is the closest I've seen to the 'look and feel' of Sidekick, but some of the additional functionality people have asked for is in the latest C-Organizer. I haven't had any problems with speed or reliability, but...
Another good notes filer I've come across is Jot+ Notes
http://www.kingstairs.com/jot/
In fact, my first reaction to C-Organizer was that it combines the best of Cute Organizer and Jot+ Notes, (plus a lot more).
TreeDBNotes seems to fill that role too.
I can't remember whether Jot+ Notes has...
I just dropped in to thank Frank10 for his suggestion of C-Organizer as a possible SK replacement, and found the new thread.
I would like to add that my initial impression of this company was favourable.
They responded to my comments in a quick and positive way. I was asking primarily if they...
Just wish to add to the weight of support for a 'new' Sidekick... I don't have the skills to code to a professional standard, but I would buy a copy of the final product!
I would agree with those who say keep the existing program and fix the date problems. (Possibly also an update to the...
Have been experimenting a little more, and vCal entries can be imported into Lotus Notes v6 by dropping them into the email inbox. They can then be saved to the Calendar as meetings.
Some magazines here in the UK have been giving away trial versions of RedBox Organizer. This seems to reproduce the functionality of Sidekick, and they state that the registered version has a world time / daylight map function.
Not sure what import/export formats are available, though.
Has anyone out there tried importing a Lotus Organizer 97 file into Sidekick 98?
I have followed the steps as outlined in the program, but my (calendar) data does not appear in the Sidekick calendar.
There are no error messages.
My test data was all created recently (i.e. after 2000).
Could...
Thanks to all in this post, as I have noted the same problem with the vCard/vCalendar option.
I had read the help, but hadn't worked out how to show the vCards in my browser...
I don't know about the use of vCards in business, but I had thought of this as a quick way to exchange data between...
