If you moved the MDBDATA manual it will not start.
Exchange uses ESM to reference where it's DB and Logs are. If you need to move the logs / Databases it must be done within ESM.

This is what I think you need to do.
Create a customer address list, that just contains the groups you want - You can customise your LDAP filter as needed when you generate the address list.
Give only the users you want to be able to see / use this address list permissions to that address...

Found the answer to this one.
1. Run an MMC
2. Add the active directory sites and services snap in
3. expand - Sites -> Default-First-Site-Name -> Servers find the servers hosting the ADC and delete them.
This appeared to work and the Exchange 2003 installation now get much further.

You can restore to a previous backup then replay the logs. This will restore the server to the state before your crash.
(provided your logs aren't corrupted)
