There is now a new problem with non-simple file sharing.
Once you establish authentication, then it seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to turn it off !! Thus creating a huge security hole.
Assume there is a public machine with many users all the same password (or no passwd).
Assume a private machine...
To disable simple file sharing (and get the real file sharing), do My Computer | Tools | Folder Options | View | Simple File Sharing, and check it OFF.
Cannot be done in XPH.

In order to logon to another computer over the network using a different user name, you need to ...... "disable the Guest account" !!!

The answer was hidden somewhere in that link you provided.
When user B accesses a shared resource on machine A, and if user B does not have an account on A, then user B becomes a "Guest", and hence cannot create a session with another login name, as there is no prompt to logon...
