    Fooling the spyware scanners

This why we've always said don't rely on one scanner. I recommend at least three scanners" As do I. The line between spyware and virus sure is getting thinner.

    Fooling the spyware scanners

Any notice an increase in the spyware that knows how to trick the common spyware scanners? I've seen one that knows how to put itself in Adaware's ignore list, and twice this week I've run into some that cause Spybot to end its scan immediately and report no problems found.

    Can't change wallpaper

I manually removed the entries that spybot identified as smithfraud-c and the machine now seems normal except for a 1024x768 white/gray box that is under the icons, but above the wallpaper. I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Changing the wallpaper doesn't seem to help, What is new when I...

    Smithfraud-c

Well, Spybot was identifying it as smithfraud. I ended up rebooting in safe mode and removing all (about 20 of the registry entries that it had identified. The machine is now showing itself to be spyware/virus free. Just one little irratating display problem left.

    Smithfraud-c

Hi, I've been working on a machine with lots of different garbage. I have it mostly functional, but the new version of Spybot has identified registry entries belonging to smithfraud-c. It finds them, but can't remove them in safe mode, or the scan it tries to run on reboot. Anyone hear of...

    Tabs missing in Display Properties

Well, with the help of some of the links from Mr Castner, I now has all of my display properties tabs showing and can set wallpaper. As long as it is larger than 1024x768 I can see it something is still launching screen.html Properties of that file identify it as \\c:windows\screen.html, which I...

    Can't change wallpaper

Well, it is spyware related. I found that the file screen.html which has become the wallpaper is limited in size to 1024x768 so if I go intro control panel and switch to a higher res I am able to find a place on the desktop not covered. I can now right click on the desktop and get to the Display...

    Can't change wallpaper

None of these have worked so far, I used gpedit.msc and found no settings incorrect, I looked at the thread on elder geek, and nothing was set wrong there. Call back service? Can't send to domain

Last week our Exchange server went down during a power failure and the UPS batteries failed. When it came back we had a problem sending email, but that was corrected by installing a patch for the McAfee Groupshield for Exchange. Everything seems normal except for sending email to one domain...

    Power failure - outgoing messages

Power was down last night for a couple of hours. I came in this morning and had to power up our servers. Our Exchange 5.5 server is receiving outside email, sending email internally, but not sending outgoing email. Any thoughts?

    Replies using Exchange Web client

Try mozilla" Certainly worth considering, and he might like giving that a try. This is just one of those odd problems that are not severe in anyway, but fun to figure out. For now, its one I can't duplicate. Oh, its on the President's son's laptop :) Can you do a double possessive like that?

    Replies using Exchange Web client

That is as I thought it should be and have verified, but the user, who is an intellegent, computer savy person swears that when he does this remotely the text isn't there. I turned off his pop up blocker (IE 6.0SP1 XP SP2) just in case.

    Replies using Exchange Web client

We have Exchange 5.5 with the remote webclient set up. Is there a setting for specifically including the original text in a reply? I have a user if I check his email via the webclient inside the company http://exchange/exchange the original message is included in the reply. If he accesses the...
