When your friend cleaned her machine, did she turn off system restore? Most of the time people get reinfected because they don't turn off system restore. The virus will stay there.
I hate to say it but have you tried removing the Wacom tablet driver? I have some tablets where the Wacom and Windows XP drivers were installed. We kept trying to figure out why we were having so many OS corruptions and also extremely slow boots. The software developer finally realized that the...
So far so good. Not a lot different so far from XI but it looks different with the graphite interface. Loads a lot faster in Vista and seems a lot more stable.
I had trouble with the KB925902 update. I uninstalled it but my computer booted a lot slower (Vista Ultimate) than it had originally. I just updated to the new Realtek drivers and the boot sped up almost to pre-update norms. I am going to try the update again. I can't believe MS can screw up an...
Retrochoir, had you not come back and said you set the drives to cable select I was going to suggest that you try that. When I built my other computer I had the same problem and had to do the same thing. I have two hard drives on IDE0 and they were set master/slave. Once I set them to cable...

Edfair told you good information. You DO NOT NEED to install Win98. Start installing XP. It will ask for a qualifying product. Remove the XP CD and put the 98 CD in the drive. XP will validate it and tell you to remove the 98 CD and insert the XP CD and will continue to install.

Okay, I've got a weird situation. I keep my computers pretty clean. I have 2 desktops and a laptop. The desktops are connected with ethernet cables and the laptop is wireless (just got wireless modem yesterday). All run Win XP Pro SP2. All completely updated. The first computer is the oldest...
I have Studio MX 2004 and Studio 8 installed on my computer. They are in separate folders. I've had no problems using either one though I do prefer 8.

Did you check in the BIOS to make sure the drive was auto-detected? Try rebooting and go into your BIOS and make sure all drives are set to auto-detect. Save and restart and see if it picks it up then.
I swear I posted this a couple of days ago but can't find it! Anyway, some friends have been having problems with their computer. I have had them download Spybot S&D and AdAware and run them. They've uninstalled a couple of things and killed some stuff using Spybott and AA but they are still...
