CR 2008 supports .Net 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0.
For any questions on what's supported, please reference our supported platforms docs here: http://support.businessobjects.com/documentation/supported_platforms/default.asp
We're getting better at writing these with every release, and the supported...
It's not always true that it's faster, but if you've got the SQL skills, I'd recommend a command object. You have complete control over what gets pushed down to the database.
Linked tables are ok, but sometimes you want to do some calculations on the database side, and sometimes you want to...
Yes, you can embed Flash into a Crystal Report 2008 RPT file and then bind it to CR data. Since Xcelsius is Flash, you can effectively use CR 2008 as a data bridge to pass data into your Xcelsius.
When you're doing this be aware that printing and exporting is not supported for Flash objects...
Hi Mark,
Web Services are not supported data sources for Universes. As a rule of thumb, Universes work best off data warehouses while CR is better at accessing transactional data sources.
Universes support a subset of CR data sources.

As a side point I should mention that one of the coolest new features of Crystal Reports 2008 is the ability to have calculated crosstab members.
This means you can define calculated row(s) or columns(s), and control the insertion point of the calculations. Within the formula that returns the...
We will be releasing shortly SP1 of the Crystal Reports Viewer XI that will support Mac OSX. This is designed for end report consumers who want to read, print, and export rpt files with saved data.
In addition our web viewers support Safari.
So from a consumption standpoint, Crystal Reports...
Hi Ken,
I see the clause there in the EULA and agree it's language is not as clear as it should be. We're updating the EULA with the first service pack and will address both the training and the consulting services items at that time to make it absolutely clear that Business Objects wants the...
The official support statement that we validate our products with is 6 versions of backwards compatibility and 2 versions of forwards compatibility.
This means that CR XI will open the previous 6 versions of rpt files, and that CR XI will generate rpt files that will execute sucessfully (with...
It sounds like you might be running into the default record limit for DCPs. To prevent the system from generating a huge number of values for a single combo box, there's a default limit of 1000 entries per level in the LOV. The system will stop reading records for an LOV once it reaches 1000...
SP1 has to be applied to both the server (Enterprise or CRServer) and the client (CR Designer).
If you haven't applied SP1 to the server you should do so.
Thanks, Blair
This problem is fixed in CR XI Release 2.
The limitation in CR XI is that when using DC prompts with stored procs or command objects, the engine requires parameter value values for all stored procs or commands before displaying the parameter page with the dynamic list.
So even if your stored...
Your CR Server license prevents you from using Universes and the Universe Designer. If you want to use a metadata layer in CR Server you should use Business Views. You need a BusinessObjects Enterprise license to use Universe Designer.
Thanks, Blair
