I have exactly the same problem. Same configuration as well
except I am using a different boot manager (Bootitd). My machine restarts to the point where the boot manager asks
which os to boot to, and then it hangs. I have to power off
since I have no reset button. Restart works fine with Win98...
I found reghakr's method worked. However, I originally
wanted to modify the tool bar button which defaults to
Microsoft Word. It also has a pull dow menu with Notepad.
I can't finad any way to modify this button to add another
application.
Is it possible to link an external editor besides MS Word
and Notepad into IE? I would like the toolbar button that
shows both Word and Notepad to also display the selected
external editor. Thanks in advance.
I had a similar problem until I realized (stupidly) that
I had the modem disabled in my system bios. But the
behavior you described is similar to the behavior I saw
until I changed the bios settings. Obviously this is not
your problem since win98 works. It may be that your modem
wants or needs...
Try and create user names and passwords that are the
same on both machines (if you haven't done this already).
Also, if you have firewall software running, make sure
that you have both the ip and subnets entered into both
machines.
I have four (essentially identical) machines running
win2k, and two of them do not display the contol panel
submenu when using "start-settings-contol panel". On the
