    are there any line or cross-hacth patterns in photoshop?

    I want to fill polygons on a map with horizontal and diagonal lines. The pattern options don't include simple lines, dots, or other typical, more 'academic', styles. Are these plug-ins or have I just not found them? Thanks!

    Thanks for the suggestion - the real problem I guess is that my background isn't exactly solid - the image will be set on off-white recycled paper, with little speckles in it that would be obviously missing under the feathering... At this point I'll go with round images for this project, but...

    The export wizard works fine for hard edges, but how about feathered transparent images???? I want to place feathered images for process printing on a solid background, but the white background among the 'feathers' still shows- on screen and on print. Any way around that?
