You could also use runh.exe to hide the batch file (easily found via google) but this may also hide the application you're launching from the batch file too. I don't think it does, but not 100% sure.
Otherwise, call a small kix script that contains the line:
SetConsole("hide")...
We had the problem you mention with McAfee 4.5.0 (plus latest service packs). We fixed it by changing to Sophos on our client machines instead :-) (after lots of non-support from our McAfee supplier)
However, I've not noticed the same problem with McAfee 4.5.1 SP1 ...

I am also getting this problem. The published app is called via a shortcut placed in the startup folder of the start menu. When the user logs in the "Failed to start connection center" message appears. If they then click the shortcut on the start menu manually once the logon process...
