All of a sudden, the tempd.mdf is growing to 17 gig, Restarted the server, and shrank. This week same thing. Why would this happen all of a sudden, and what is the best way to keep this under contol? SQL2000

Setting up a maintenance plan in SQL 2005, I do not see the same option that was in SQL 2000, to indicate the amount of days to keep the backup. Backing up once a day, and there just accumulating. How can I change the maintenance plane to delete backups older than 3 days?

I have install SQL 2005, on my laptop, but it did not install the Management Studio. I also installed SQL 2005 on a cients server, and installing the client on a workstation, it is not installing the Management Studio.
Not sure why?
Does not work in Safe Mode, or with another user login.

When starting XP, the menu, tool bar at the bottom does not come up, only the hour glass. Looking at the event manager, there are two errors that may be causing the problem, but Microsoft has no help on them.
/LM/SMTPSVC/ Can not be open.

Were converting a large Access database to SQL. There are over 100 tables and queries. Were trying to find a faster way to update the data from Access to SQL, instead of appending each table as we are doing now, which takes a long time.

We have converted an Access Database with over 150 tables and 120 queries to SQL, with Access as the front end.
Reports (that contain 15 or more linked tables or queries) are now taking more than twice as long to run. A report that took 30 seconds with Access tables are now taking 10 minutes...
We know with a compiled report in v8.5, you can select a time to print a report, but has anyone set them up to print at the same time every day, or on a specific schedule without user imput? With a command string, or another method?
We brought in an 850 from Wal-Mart into Lexicon, and into Sterling. However when bringing into Sterling it comes in Green, and automaticly prints, no choice, just prints, and comes out of the inbox. There is no reprosses option to put them back on the desktop to bring into Macola. In addition...
Has anyone had a successfull transmission with Wal-Mart using Lexicom and AS2. They are telling us there is a communication problem, but won't say exactly what. Our firewall connections etc. , are all in place. We are also using Sterling, and integrating into Macola
