yup, tried that too....made no difference, and if you start them all up manually when in single user mode they all start fine...

unfortunatly yes we have! i have to say, i have now has sun engineers on site since saturday trying to fix it with no joy...

this is the only system that failed yes.. i moved 9 others, and they all came backup without a fuss! jsut so happens that the one that has the problem is the really important on...so surprise there then..!

no, its all on the same IP, subnet, default router etc etc with a link back to the current office...no network changes.. in single user mode i can ping it, as soon as i bring it up to run level 3 it dies, no network, nothing...console freezes, falls off the network..total failure...

yer, its worked for a couple of years.. we are moving offices so on saturday it was shutdown, moved to the new building, racked and turned on... never came back up properly... i have done all the fsck, format-analyze-read, metasync etc etc.. no joy...

hi there, i have a v240 that looks like it boots up normally, starts all the services, gets to "system is ready", next thing it SHOULD display is the "console login:" prompt, but instead it get %$$£%^$^$ sort of thing and it hangs..kills the server. it boots up fine in single user mode...

Hi there, We are moving offices this year and will have a new network & IP address range.. The Solaris servers are running NIS+... if i change the NIS+ master server's IP address and all its clients will it still work?! if not, what do i need to do to get it working? all hostnames will remain...

I have a really strange problem with NIS+! we have an in house job management program that hold all the information on data processing jobs within nis+. it holds the job number, title, client number etc etc and the users have script that read the tables and tell them where jobs are.. i have...

hi there, I tar one (large) file to tape every night. I then come in in the morning, rewind the tape and do a quick tar tvf /dev/rmt/0 to make sure its there. i want to put the output of "tar tvf /dev/rmt/0" to a file so i can mail it to myself so i dont have to check it every morning...

it does, but not much of one obviously!!! it comes with the raidctl command to setup the mirror, but only allows one mirror..sucks! i dont want to go down the software route, guess i may have to!

Why can't I create a 2nd mirrorset using the v440's onboard RAID card? I have 4 disks in there, i want to create 2 mirrors... how do i go about it... dont really want software RAID.. cheers Adam
