I am getting overlapping ip error on the e0/1 if I keep the ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.163 / 255.255.252.0 with e0/0 ip xxx.xxx.xxx.189 / 255.255.252.0
Any suggestion to solve th issue.

The same problem reported on Cisco Web Site for Catalyst 4000 model but it seems to be the same for 2600, may be you can backup the current IOS and upgrade as suggested below:

You need to use the cross cable for uplink.
Switch to Switch ********** Cross

The information seems to be incomplete, we dont know what kind of Interface you are using for the connectivity between two sites?
