    1912 Catalys switch

    For a 1900 swich with a DB9 console connector you must use a null modem cable. Using a roll-over and two RJ45 - DB9 adapters does not work - although you can still display the diags. console with this set up you can't get the management console.

    Hi I just bought a 1900c switch

    From your description I think your switch is an old one with a DB9 connector and you are using a rolled RJ45 cable and a DB9/RJ45 'Terminal' adapter on each. This does not work. Although this setup will display the Diagnostics Console, but all you get booted normally are modem reset strings...
