    Go to Ontrack.com and get the trial Data Advisor software... then run a full scan on your harddrive. You may have a damaged partition as this is one of the symptoms

    Help! XP Starts to boot then shutsdown

    I had a BSD shutdown on xp (had random shutdowns due to acpi) But now XP will not boot fully. It looks like it will, I get to the start of my desktop, the wallpaper shows up, I hear the sound (windows startup sound), then the blue welcome screen pops up, and then I hear the shutdown sound...
