Another DirectX problem
Is this game by any chance Star Trek: Starfleet Command 3 (it may not be...)? If so, there is a fix for it, jsut search google. Do the same if it inst SFC3.- Whybecause

Windows boots but no icons are displayed
That happened to me - before I had to reformat and reinstall... I had a virus that only attacks .exe files - first, I couldnt play games...then I couldnt use the internet...then I got the symtoms that you appear to be having...(no icons). That stuff is information about what windows is loading in your AUTOEXEC.bat file. Firstly, why do you want to remove it? Secondly, I don't think you can anyway. :)- Whybecause
