I've been out so I'm going to start doing what you asked me to do, bcastner, right now.
But first I want to tell you that both machines got their IP from the LinkSys router ( 192.168.1.xxx ) and from both I could ping the LinkSys.
As a matter of fact the linksys has a real IP and I can surf in...
I agree with you, the ping works at a lower level. And as you said it always work.
The answer I got when I try to ping is " request time out ", as if the host I'm trying to reach is down.
Any other idea.
No, they're not the same kind of machines, and have different adapters.
But, if this were a hardware problem, why can you get an ip from the DHCP¿
I reinstalled IPX/SPX and I can ( as 3 days ago ) access the aplications on both computers but I can not still ping each other, so they're speaking...
You are right, this doesn't make any sense.
A few days ago all xp pro can be seen on the network neighborhood, but I think this was because IPX.
Then in ONE xp pro computer I started the Routing and Remote Access service, and I lost conectivity, even with IPX installed. Here is where the...
I desinstalled IPX from both machines and I ran
netsh diag gui ( it got ALL the information from my pc's )
but I don't see anything that seem's to be wrong
wich part should I watch out ?
( I apologise for my english )
OK I turned off NT ( domain controller ), and leave only 2 XP pro computers, both set as workgroup.
To make sure they're in the same network I set up a linkSys DHCP.
Both XP pro get an IP from the DHCP ( 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101 ), so they MUST see each other, but they don't.
I can not...
I already made this test:
I have an XP pro computer with IP 192.168.1.3 and the NT 4.0 has 192.168.1.1
You can ping from XP to NT, but you can NOT ping from NT to XP
Could it be a problem that XP's are set as workgroup and NT is a domain controller????
The Client for Microsoft Networking is installed and also File and Print Sharing.
You logon in all machines using a username and a password.
The firewall is disabled, I mean the one you find at TCP/IP advanced properties.
But I forgot to tell you something, a few days ago it seems that...
Hi
I'm writting from Mexico and I have this problem:
I have 3 or 4 machines with Windows XP PRO and I can not ping among them.
they have ip address like this
192.168.1.3/255.255.255.0
192.168.1.4/255.255.255.0
192.168.1.5/255.255.255.0
192.168.1.6/255.255.255.0
everything seems SO simply...
Ok
On the other hand, I've been told that you can do it with only one interface.
I mean that if I have a mail server ( for example ) in my LAN, I can limit the bandwidth it uses with an access list, and no need to have two ethernet interfaces.
Is this correct?
Hi
Does anybody know if I can control the traffic in a LAN with a 2511?
I have a mail server in my LAN and I want to limit the bandwidth it uses.

But when do you apply it?
I download groupwise from novell, and then I extract the files.
I installed groupwise, and I think you install the sp at this point, am I right?
thanks for your help !!!!

I'm a mexican ISP so first I apologise for my english.
Second, I'm looking for a web-mail solution where the users can add their account by their own. In other words, I want to offer a free mail service ( like hotmail ) so you can add...
Does anybody know a mail server software( free or paid, it doesn't matter ) that let's you add accounts from a web interface?
for example, like hotmail
the plataform desn't matter (linux, 2000 server, novell, etc )
thanks a lot
Hi,
I tried to install GroupWise 6 Web on Novell 6, but when it asks you to choose your web server it only gives you 3 options:
NetScape Fast Track Server for Novell
IIS
Apache for Unix
As far as I know, Novell 6 comes with Apache for Novell, wich is working ok ( great ), so what server do...
