afew more things you can try.
1-check if IIS service is running. If its running restart it and try again
2-open Command and type tracert localhost and see what comes up
3-create a basic HTML page and see if you can browse it
4-one last thing i would try is to download MS Scripting Engine

I was trying to avoid using the client side scripts but unless the client starts to do more cooperating I guess I will be stuck with JS.

they should give you the IP Address of the server to connect to it
after that if you are using VS.NET you can go to Server Explorer, Right Click on Data Connections, click on Add Connection, file in the fileds with proper vaues IP, Username and password and select the your database

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to track Affiliates in this situation.
Users get to the website from Affiliates sites tracked by a querystring AffID=1 for example
