Here's a way to delete those files without rebooting..
Make sure that no backing is running,,
use procexp.exe from sysinternals.. search handles for vsp files.. the locked files will show up.. click on one and it will focus in the procexp.exe window.. then right click and click close handle.
I would look into the SCSI and/or Tape drive to make sure they are installed correctly.. Maybe an IRQ conflict?
BTW, have you had trouble backing up the c: partition (drive0)? for some reason, my drive1 (d:) backs up with no problem, but not c:
