Incorporating an input mask into an append query

Hello All... Here's the scenario: In a widely distributed Access2000 runtime application with separate front and back ends there is an SSN field on a data entry/edit form. The input mask is 000\-00\-0000;;_ On this same form, there is a selection dropdown that displays LName, FName, DOB and...

    Sudden Unexpected Behaviour

    Would running Repair&Compact be worthwhile?

    Sudden Unexpected Behaviour

I'm assuming you are sharing one backend database with the individual users running the front end on their individual PCs. Is this a peer-to-peer or client-server network? Where does the backend reside? How many users? (An unlikely culprit: Any printer definition changes since, as I...

Query multiple tables with multiple criteria

Sorry, I missed in your first posting that you had set up individual queries already. You can always experiment with the left and right joins (2, 3) to see the difference, but it sounds like they should be fine. You might want to try to make sure that there are no hidden spaces in the data...

Query multiple tables with multiple criteria

BadDog... I've found that if you are looking at multiple filters in multiple related tables, it sometimes is easier and more organized to write a couple of queries and then link the queries for your final results...as opposed to trying to bundle all the tables and filters up into one query...

    Runtime Access

Rick... Don't know if you are still monitoring this thread, but came across a bit of a more definitive explanation. (Stumbled across it, actually, while looking for something else.) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q249843 Regards

Code to check for duplicate records

Craig... Good tip. I've used something similar in the past. However, Access(2k) seems to save the record with the first three fields anyway...as you go...without hitting the cmdSave button. Know of a clean way of getting around that? Thanks, Tom

    Switchboard Location

If you've created it correctly, you should have evidence in two locations: A form default-named "Switchboard" and a table named "Switchboard Items" which contains the text and actions the switchboard is to take (i.e. open form myform, etc.).

    Backup Current DB ?

Nic piece, Jim... I've been looking for this solution. Here's a belated Star.

Dynamic Form Formatting - Discussion of method

Another option would be to create two buttons, one for Employee Info and one for Training Info. Set cmdTraining enabled property to "True" and cmdEmployee enabled to "False". Then, create your text boxes, labels, etc. on the form for everything that you want ultimately to...

    convert mdb files to exe

The ODE(2K) tools will let you take an .mdb or .mde and distribute it in runtime. On installation, it will detect the presence or absence of Access2000 and, if needed, install the runtime. (One advantage of the .mde over the .mdb is that it is not as susceptible to end-users making changes...

    Runtime Access

Rick... Thanks for the insights. My head is hurting from pouring through the licensing agreement with ODE. I'd rather look at code <g>. I'm going to turn it over to the legal-eagles to figure out. I believe, from what I've read, that I'm on safe footing with the msacc9.olb. The others are...

    Runtime Access

Hey Rick... Are you sure about the redistribution of the *.olb files? I'd think if Bill is using the Package and Deployment Wizard with Office Developer Edition (a pricey little piece of software), then that license extends to his distribution of the MS support files as well as the compiled...

    replication test

I abandoned replication with Access97 when we had nightmares just replicating the db between two offices. Don't know if 2000 is any smoother...haven't had the need (or guts) to try it out. Good luck.

    Access97 with Office2000

MrsTFB... I've run into this on numerous occassions and there is a simple workaround. You just have to temporarily change a couple of filenames and a couple of other hoops. Rather than go into detail on this forum, point your browser to Microsoft's KnowledgeBase at...
