Have similar problem occurred today. Only affected some users and only affected certain mails, unable to open one or more attachments. Checked CA ETrust Virus scan log and it had stopped logging last night ! Checked log settings and this showed should be 5MB, keep 5 of them, BUT it had...
Just a long shot but have you changed the tape drive ? If so you will need to point your jobs at the new media device for them to run. Not that we had this problem :-)))
Try running the DB maintenance progs suggested on the AS200 support pages (dbcheck, dbfix etc) assuming your dbases are VLDB.
Should at least give you an idea if they are knackered.
