Restoring .edb files onto a new server!

Ok, I finally managed to get this thing working..! Here is what to do: 1. Build a new server with the same name as the original. 2. Take the original offline 3. Add the new server to the network 4. Restore the databases from backup (I used Veritas NetBackup with Exchange agent) 5. Reboot and...

Restoring .edb files onto a new server!

Sorry, still no luck! - fuego007, I followed your FAQ and I think you've made a small mistake. You say; to run the isinteg -patch tool whilst all the services are stopped. I am pretty positive that you need the "Directory" service running in order to complete the isinteg -patch..! If...

Restoring .edb files onto a new server!

Ok, so let me just get it absolutely clear... 1. The server name (netbios) must be the same. 2. The db path must be the same. (e:\exchsrve\mdbdata) 3. The name of the db must be the same (priv.edb, pub.edb) 4. The installation path of exchange must be the same... What am I missing..??? Cheers,

Restoring .edb files onto a new server!

Hawk, Thanks for your reply... I'm afraid that it's not as simple as that. I've made sure all paths and filenames are EXACTLY the same. Besides, I'm overwriting the new db files with the old ones, so the location remain the same. Cheers, Martin

Restoring .edb files onto a new server!

Thanks for replying... At first I named the server (NetBios name) differently, then I changed it back to the original name. I reinstalled exchange after renaming it and the problem persists. When I use the original (newly installed) edb files the server starts up without problems but as soon...

I am trying to duplicate my current exchange installation onto a new server, or basically, I want to “restore” the exchange databases on a freshly installed system. Here are the steps I’ve followed so far: 1. Installed Windows NT 4.0 Server on a new hardware platform. (SP6 high enc, etc) 2...

What's included in a system_state backup for NT??

I'm trying to determine what's included in a system state backup for Windows NT 4.0 Server. I had a look at the System Admin Guide frorm Veritas but their specifications are pretty vague for NT. (Lot's on WIN2K and XP. ) What part of the registry is backed up and does it contain a copy of DNS...

Restoring images onto an alternative location (partition)

After allocating additional space for my NetBackup (4.5 MP3) images on a separate partition I am looking for a way to reinstall NetBackup and point the images to the new install of NB. Can reinstall NetBackup on another partition and copy the images, or do I need to restore them somehow? I have...

A small note - If you type vmquery -m MEDAID (where MEDIAID is the name of your tape) You can see the "pool number" and "status"
