Hi there,
I am shure now that there is a problem with VERITAS 5.1 MP2 on Windows regarding the incremental backups.
If you use the calendar method (partially or all the way) for your schedule the incrementals will take all the files.
For the incremental (differentials or cummulatives) backup...
I also have problems with incremental backups. (Windows 2000 Server all around) (Differential, incremental, cummulatives, I tested all of them and the problem is the same.)
As I can see on the VERITS site and on Tek-Tips, the problem as more to do with the schedule than the archive bit or...
Hi there !,
I'm no expert, but my first idea would be to implement a raw image backup. One that reads the disk sequentially, (like Symantec Ghost does). There is an option you can add to NBU for that.
Go to their web site and check if you can test it.
Enjoy !
I got it.
I understand what went wrong : I do tests during the day and try to get the regular sheduled backup run at night. But since I runned a test using one schedule, NBU doesn't start it again the same day...
Now, if I want to do tests during the day, I have a complete new sets of...
Hi there,

Hi everyone,
My server hardware migration is completed.
A test for a full backup just completed and there is 135 Gb of data on the tape.
I can't explain the exact reason why it is now working, but, ... whatever, it is !
Hi to both of you,
Flave : 166Go, (it's french, sorry for the mistake) should have read 166GB
Lenski : Ho ! that would explain why I managed to put 127GB the other day (Since the test was data coming directly from the server and was probably faster)
I lied a bit in the description, telling I...
Hi Flave,
I know that the compression check box in NetBackup is ofr software compression on the client side. Slowing the backup, taking more CPU, but reducing the total bandwith used.
The problem is with hardware compression.
Using both products, on the same machine, I get 166Go with...
I already posted in an other thread, but I don't find it anymore, so here is my problem once again!
Problem :
When I use NetBackup to make a backup, there is no hardware compression (close to none: I managed to put upto 106Go on a tape)
But when I use BackupExec with the same file selection, I...
Hey !
We previously had BackupExec and had to change to NetBackup because the backup window was too long (now with multiplexing we reduced by 3 times the backup time)
We also have a compression problem.
BackupExec is still installed: when we take the backup with backup exec we manage to put...
